In the summer of 2005, Rick's Aunt, Uncle and
Cousin came to Guthrie for a visit. Rick's Cousin,
Rita Stevens (pictured right), and her Mom Lottie
Staton (pictured below), went downtown to check
out the antique shops. When they returned, Rita
stated Guthrie would make a great location for a
Winans. We said, "A what?". Rita is the head
Chocolatier at the factory in Piqua, Ohio, that
makes chocolates for all of the Winans company
owned and Franchise locations across the
Mid-West.
Rick and Stacy went to Ohio October, of that same
year, to check out this "Winans" that Rita spoke so
highly of. It was love at first sight. We started
scouting locations as soon as we returned.
